CenterPoint Legacy Theatre provides much-needed opportunities for performers to expand their acting, singing, and dancing talents. Performers enjoy the personal connections found at a community theater and the high talent level of a professional theater.
I originally got started in theater because I love acting. Portraying someone else and presenting their story, can be a life-changing experience.
I started acting at Rodgers Memorial Theater in 2002. Shortly after, my wife and I became ushers and greeters at Rodgers. When CenterPoint Legacy Theatre opened, my wife, Laurie, became the house manager and volunteer coordinator, and I became the producer in the Leishman Performance Hall. CenterPoint has given me the opportunity to act with and produce some of the most talented performers in Utah.
My favorite musical is A Christmas Carol – it’s a great story of joy and redemption. My favorite play is Harvey because the lead character, Elwood Dowd, is an example of simplicity, honesty, and kindness. My favorite play quote comes from Elwood. “In this world, you must be oh so smart, or oh so pleasant. Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant.”
Laurie and I have 4 children. They, along with their spouses, have spent many hours working with us ushering, building sets, and volunteering for events.
