How often do you get to see a show that will break your heart…and then put it back together even better than it was before?
Welcome to BIG FISH!
This musical fantasy blends true-life challenges with whimsical imagination. From the first moments, you’ll enter a world where the line between reality and magic is beautifully blurred. It’s a whirlwind that sweeps you through rivers, weddings, caves, circuses, wars, hospitals, and the Wild West, all the while delving into the depths of the human heart.
It’s a show that is better left explored rather than explained. It is yours to experience on your own terms…for surely every audience member will find their own story somewhere within this myriad of tales.
And it is our pleasure and privilege to share it with you …with love.
Jim Christian – Director
Big Fish is the story of Edward Bloom, a charismatic and passionate man whose fantastical stories of his epic adventures frustrate his son Will. But as Edward faces his own mortality, Will discovers that he will soon have a son of his own. Driven to find out the “true” story of who his father really is, Will embarks on a journey to separate the man from the myth.

In CenterPoint Legacy Theatre’s production of The Music Man, Russell Maxfield gets to honor his Father in a unique way: by figuratively and literally walking in his shoes. As a child, Russell had the opportunity to play Winthrop while his Dad played Harold Hill for Pages Lane Theatre production. Now, Russell takes on the role of Harold Hill while his Father joins the ensemble and he might even get to wear a pair of his Dad’s Harold Hill shoes on stage.
Russell grew up knowing and loving the music and story of The Music Man, but now sees how deep the storyline goes. He feels like there are many connections to our lives in Centerville and Davis County. He says, “The good guy really starts off as the bad guy. He ends up changing the town and the town changes him.” Russell began on the stage at age 6 at Pages Lane Theatre, with Ralph Rodgers being a big part of why he originally began acting. While playing the part of Winthrop, Russell tried to learn the trumpet but eventually steered toward vocal performances. As a young boy he remembers seeing The Music Man’s Director, Shelby Ferrin, play Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and it inspired Russell to play the same role as an adult. Some of his favorite roles have been when he’s playing the good guy, like Joseph, or the bad guy, like Gaston in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. With the role of Harold Hill, Russell feels like he gets to explore both those character types.
Russell is happy to be back at CenterPoint where he knows the people from the community where he grew up. He appreciates that CenterPoint is a community theater with high quality performances. He encourages people to come find something new in The Music Man. He notes, “The Music Man feels like the original Hamilton. There is so much fast, rhythmic speaking that almost feels like rapping. The more you get into the music and story it is even better than you will remember.” He hopes that audiences will enjoy this look into a time when a small community learns to welcome differences that add value to their lives.
Krista is thankful for the opportunity to work with this production team, cast, and crew. She appreciates the support of this community and the value it places on the arts and how it impacts our lives.
Jim is a Professor Emeritus from Weber State University where he headed up the Musical Theatre Program for 28 years. He has worked professionally as a director, choreographer, musical director, and playwright across the country and is thrilled to be collaborating with Jessica and every member of this exceptional team once again!
It has been such a great opportunity to watch the magic of this show come to life on stage. Thank you to all the hard-working cast and team members for making it possible. A special thank you to my most supportive husband and best friend. I love you, Scott! Our marriage is the best decision you ever made.
Jessica’s latest work was seen this past December in A Christmas Story. Other choreography credits include Crazy For You at CPT, Holiday Inn at CPT, and Hairspray at CPT & The Grand Theatre. Jessica is currently in her 14th year of coaching the Layton High Lancelles and loves every opportunity she gets to share her passion for dance.
After four and a half years as the Technical Director for CPT, Derek has been told it’s finally time to update his bio for the program. So if you’re reading this… Thanks! He is an alumnus of the Weber State Theater Program. Derek oversees the technical aspects of all of the shows we do, including the Barlow Main Stage, Leishman Performance Hall, Academy, and rental events.
Ashley is very happy to be a part of this Production. Most recently she designed props for Cinderella and was Stage Manager for A Christmas Story. Thank you to Ian for all of his love and support.
Sharla Jordan is delighted to be joining CenterPoint Legacy Theatre in its production of Big Fish. She loves the performing arts. She has been a part of numerous productions at various theatres in Davis County, both as a performer and production team member since 2015. She appreciates the support from her rock and amazing husband, John.
Tammis Boam has worked for numerous productions locally and nationally at many theaters and can truly claim CenterPoint to be her home where she serves as the Costume Dept Manager. She most recently designed A Christmas Story. She dedicates this show to Poppi and Grandpa Boam. Thank you for never letting the true part interfere with the story part!
CenterPoint has been Jordan’s second home since it first opened when he was 15yrs old. The list of shows he has been involved in here is long but a few of his favorites are the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Lend Me A Tenor, and Wait Until Dark. He is grateful to have the opportunity to do what he loves. “Special thanks to my wife, Jessica”
Joshua Roberts is a Designer who graduated from USU with an MFA in Lighting, Projection, and Scenic Design. He has done design work for Utah-based companies like Tuacahn and Hale Centre Theatre and has designed internationally. His work has taken him all over the United States, Canada, South Africa, Botswana, Swaziland, Russia, and China.
Brad is thrilled to be back, he previously designed Beauty and the Beast at CPT and he was once an actor at the Rodgers Memorial Theatre many years ago. Brad graduated from the nationally-ranked Cal State Fullerton. He is a three-time recipient of Broadway World’s regional award for the best set design of a musical.
Big Fish marks Cynthia’s 42nd show on the Barlow Main Stage as well as 20 shows in the Leishman Performance Hall and is already working on her 60th overall show here at CPT. Cynthia served as the Scenic Charge Artist for Disney Channel’s High School Musical – The Series Season 2. For 8 seasons, Cynthia served as the Scenic Charge Artist at Tuacahn Amphitheatre producing scenic artwork for 26 productions.
Truxton is excited to build for a third season at CenterPoint and to be calling the shots by designing the set. Truxton was the ATD at Tuacahn for 8 years, notably working on The Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Prince of Egypt, and The Little Mermaid. He couldn’t have accomplished this without the support of his loving wife, Megan, and his seven kids.
As a mom, Trish is well-versed with locating lost items for people, keeping things in order & creating a space to let the imagination free. Whether the places are Neverland, New York boroughs, or a silly circus, working at CPT keeps those skills sharp. Passing down her late father’s skills and working alongside her daughter is a dream come true.
Taylor wants to give you “props” …literally. Whether pirates, mermaids, lost boys, witches, or giants. She’s a master of ensuring CPT actors have their hands full, tables covered, and their fish a flying. She’s thrilled to be part of another fantastic show and encourages you to dream big and give yourself “props” every now & then.
Shelly is thrilled to be a part of the CPT family with Big Fish. She has done many things as a performer. Some of her favorites are The Wizard of Oz, Singin’ in the Rain, and being a featured soloist in the 2017 & 2019 Temple Square Concert Series. She is excited to be experiencing things from the perspective of the production team again.
