Cinderella – it’s a classic! There are many versions and they have been told over and over again for centuries. It is easy to dismiss it as just another fairytale or princess story, but most of the fairytales and stories we grew up with encourage us to consider our own nature. They invite us to consider better ways to treat each other. They also suggest that the magic we seek in our lives can be found in treating others with kindness and respect. This version of the story is packed with the music of Rodgers & Hammerstein we have all grown up hearing and adds a little more to the storyline.
It has been my pleasure to work over the past several weeks with an incredibly talented and kind cast, crew, and production team. They are ready to present this beautiful story to you with music, dance, and some great storytelling. I hope you will relax and let the magic wash over you. Thanks for joining us!

Take your seats at CenterPoint Theatre for The Play That Goes Wrong and be transported into the charming theater of The Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society. It’s the opening night of their new production – the 1920’s murder mystery ‘Murder at Haversham Manor‘. As the show’s title might suggest, the opening night does not go as smoothly as hoped. The dauntless troupe struggles bravely to reach the final curtain of their murder mystery play while coping with missed lines, lost props, and poorly built scenery.

In CenterPoint Legacy Theatre’s production of The Music Man, Russell Maxfield gets to honor his Father in a unique way: by figuratively and literally walking in his shoes. As a child, Russell had the opportunity to play Winthrop while his Dad played Harold Hill for Pages Lane Theatre production. Now, Russell takes on the role of Harold Hill while his Father joins the ensemble and he might even get to wear a pair of his Dad’s Harold Hill shoes on stage.
Russell grew up knowing and loving the music and story of The Music Man, but now sees how deep the storyline goes. He feels like there are many connections to our lives in Centerville and Davis County. He says, “The good guy really starts off as the bad guy. He ends up changing the town and the town changes him.” Russell began on the stage at age 6 at Pages Lane Theatre, with Ralph Rodgers being a big part of why he originally began acting. While playing the part of Winthrop, Russell tried to learn the trumpet but eventually steered toward vocal performances. As a young boy he remembers seeing The Music Man’s Director, Shelby Ferrin, play Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and it inspired Russell to play the same role as an adult. Some of his favorite roles have been when he’s playing the good guy, like Joseph, or the bad guy, like Gaston in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. With the role of Harold Hill, Russell feels like he gets to explore both those character types.
Russell is happy to be back at CenterPoint where he knows the people from the community where he grew up. He appreciates that CenterPoint is a community theater with high quality performances. He encourages people to come find something new in The Music Man. He notes, “The Music Man feels like the original Hamilton. There is so much fast, rhythmic speaking that almost feels like rapping. The more you get into the music and story it is even better than you will remember.” He hopes that audiences will enjoy this look into a time when a small community learns to welcome differences that add value to their lives.
Krista is thankful for the opportunity to work with this production team, cast, and crew. She appreciates the support of this community and the value it places on the arts and how it impacts our lives.
Jansen is the Executive Director for CPT. He has worked with other companies including, Rodgers Memorial Theater, Desert Star Playhouse, and StageRight Theatre Company. Directing experiences include The Secret Garden, It’s a Wonderful Life, A Man for All Seasons, The Importance of Being Earnest, Singin’ in the Rain, 42nd Street, and My Fair Lady.
It has been such a great opportunity to watch the magic of this show come to life on stage. Thank you to all the hard-working cast and team members for making it possible. A special thank you to my most supportive husband and best friend. I love you, Scott! Our marriage is the best decision you ever made.
Brittney is excited to share this beautiful story with you. She is so grateful for the opportunity to have worked on this production with this incredible cast and crew. It has been a dream to work on a fairy tale after the past couple of years of chaos in the world.
Bailee has over 15 years of formal dance and theatre training. She got her degree in Musical Theatre from Weber State University in 2014. She has enjoyed choreographing and performing ever since! Bailee is so proud of this talented cast and their dedication. She would like to thank her husband Kyle and her two sweet boys for their ongoing support.
After four and a half years as the Technical Director for CPT, Derek has been told it’s finally time to update his bio for the program. So if you’re reading this… Thanks! He is an alumnus of the Weber State Theater Program. Derek oversees the technical aspects of all of the shows we do, including the Barlow Main Stage, Leishman Performance Hall, Academy, and rental events.
Megan is elated to be a part of this magical production! She has stage-managed and performed in many shows here at CPT, most recently as a disco-loving nun in Sister Act. She is the director of the Elementary Musical Theatre Classes for CPT Academy and loves it. Many thanks to an incredible pro team, cast and crew. “Some imagination. Huh?”
Amie has been behind the scenes at CPT in a handful of shows now in one way or another. It all started with The Hunchback of Notre Dame and the rest is history. Working with this crazy talented Production Team and the fabulous cast has just cemented her appreciation for the unique talents and strengths each person brings to the table – both on and off stage.
It’s great to be back! Syd is so grateful for a wonderful supportive husband and family. I love the CenterPoint family and friends that make me so happy to be back. “Thank you for the challenges and I love fairytales. Thanks, Duncan! It’s Possible!”
Jay is excited to be invited back to help with a production at CenterPoint. Jay has worked in theater since he was a teenager and still enjoys it today. He loves how each theater performance is a unique experience only shared by those involved.
Colin is excited to be back at CPT! Colin has graduated from UVU with a BFA in Theatrical Design & Production. Lighting Design credits include Cinderella and The Little Mermaid with Kaysville City. James and the Giant Peach and Urinetown with UVU. Flight: Dare to Dream as Asst. LD for Royal Caribbean Cruises & La Sylphide as Asst. LD for Atlanta Ballet.
Cinderella marks Cynthia’s 41st show on the Barlow Main Stage as well as 19 shows in the Leishman Performance Hall and is already working on her 60th overall show here at CPT. Cynthia served as the Scenic Charge Artist for Disney Channel’s High School Musical – The Series Season 2. For 8 seasons, Cynthia served as the Scenic Charge Artist at Tuacahn Amphitheatre producing scenic artwork for 26 productions.
Truxton is excited to build for a third season at CenterPoint and to be calling the shots by designing the set. Truxton was the ATD at Tuacahn for 8 years, notably working on The Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Prince of Egypt, and The Little Mermaid. He couldn’t have accomplished this without the support of his loving wife, Megan, and his five kids, with two more on the way.
Ashley has had so much fun helping create magic for this show. Thank you to the fantastic production team for the experience and collaboration.
Shelly is thrilled to be a part of the CPT family with Cinderella. She has done many things as a performer. Some of her favorites are The Wizard of Oz, Singin’ in the Rain, and being a featured soloist in the 2017 & 2019 Temple Square Concert Series. She is excited to be experiencing things from the perspective of the production team again.
