Last year was quite a year. Filled with change, grief and uncertainty. In The Secret Garden, Mary Lennox also finds herself experiencing a challenging time. Orphaned in India, she is sent to live with her uncle halfway around the world. The halls of Misselthwaite Manor are gloomy for her uncle Archibald has been mourning the loss of his wife for ten years. Even as despair overshadows the Manor, Mary is able to move forward in her life with the help of her friends and then by helping others.
This story is a reminder that hope and kindness can lead us to the next glorious spring time in our life’s journey. Look under the surfaces that feel hard, broken and dry. Find what is “wick” about you and others. Nurture that and you may see your life blossom like Lily’s Secret Garden.
I hope you enjoy the show.
Jansen Davis – Director
Caroline is thrilled to be back at CPT after being in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang! She was also on the mainstage in A Christmas Carol. She is a bubbly 7th grader who loves acting. When not in quarantine she loves hanging out with friends and traveling. She is so excited to be taking part in a show with such a wonderful cast and crew! Hope you like the show! 🙂
Zach is thrilled about the opportunity to play this role. Since losing his mom in 2016 this show has held a special place in his heart, and getting to play Archie has been a dream come true. Zach would like to thank his wife Sarah for the love and support, there is no way he’d be here without her. He’d also like to thank the production team for all their hard work and for believing that he could pull this off! Past roles include: Mrs. Bumbrake in Peter and the Starcatcher, Richard Henry Lee in 1776, and Sparky in Forever Plaid.
Laura is so excited to return to this stage after spending a few years in New York City and Washington DC. She works as a registered nurse, but her favorite job is being a mom to her adorable little girl. She is grateful for her husband’s endless support in following her dreams. Her favorite credits include Evita, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Guys and Dolls.
This is my first show at CenterPoint Theatre and what a marvelous introduction! I am so thrilled to be a part of The Secret Garden. Especially with such an amazing team and cast who are each so determined to have a wonderful time and keep us all safe too!
Alex is thrilled to be a part of such a magnificent production. He is also proud to perform safely and help bring some much-needed joy this new year to Utah patrons. Alex’s past credits include Quasimodo in The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Chester in My Fair Lady, and the Young Man in A Tale Of Two Cities, all at CPT. He has also played Freddy Benson in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, George in The Drowsy Chaperone, and Fyedka in Fiddler On The Roof. He has also directed productions of Blithe Spirit and Forever Plaid.
Colin is an active 11 year old who loves reading, hanging out with his siblings and playing video games. When Colin joined the CenterPoint Academy two years ago we had no idea how much he would love theater. With the Academy, he participated in Annie Kids and most recently he played Jafar in Aladdin Kids. He is excited for the chance to play on the main stage for the first time.
This is Russell’s first time appearing in The Secret Garden, and he’s excited to be a part of this show. Previously you have seen him here as Gaston, in Beauty & The Beast, Stanley in A Streetcar Named Desire and Phoebus in The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Hopefully, you will come back & see him as Harold Hill in The Music Man coming very soon to this theatre. “Thanks Mom!”
Mandie is thrilled to be returning to the CenterPoint stage in the role of Rose, in such a beautiful production, and with such an amazing production team, cast, and crew. This experience has been an honor, blessing, and privilege. Mandie sincerely thanks the audience for supporting the arts, and CenterPoint Legacy Theatre, during this time.
Brent’s excited to play the role of Ben with this uber-talented cast and production team. Thanks to the audience for its willingness to brave COVID and experience this story of discovery, renewal, and overcoming the devastating effects of a pandemic. Sound familiar? Favorite roles include Lawrence in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Sam in Mama Mia.
Ben is so happy to be back on the Barlow Mainstage. It’s been a little over 9 years since he was last here playing a union soldier in The Civil War. Ben is a really nice guy, who might like playing really bad guys. Most recently he was able to play the roles of Willie, in Ghost: The Musical, and Curtis in Sister Act. Outside the theatre, Ben works as a Technology Specialist in the Murray City School District. He is also husband to his gorgeous wife Janzell, and father of two loving kiddos Naomi and Toa.
With so much troubling our world right now, it is a great gift to find peace in a musical production and to be allowed sanctuary on a stage or in an auditorium. I cherish this unique and rare opportunity to be able to buckle up a pair of character shoes and step into another realm for a little while. My most sincere gratitude to CPT, Jansen and his team as well as to my sweet husband, for letting me take this much-needed moment. It’s a balm for the soul.
Michelle is thrilled to join the CPT family for the first time, having previously appeared in Kaysville City’s Aida and Hello Dolly. She loves laughing with family and friends (whose support means the world) and is most proud of being placed permanently on Santa’s nice list, no matter what her sister-in-law tells you.
Krista is grateful to once again work on another production with incredibly dedicated and talented people.
Jansen serves as the Executive Director for CPT. He has directed and performed with several local theater companies. Productions directed by Jansen include; Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, It’s a Wonderful Life, A Man for All Seasons, All Shook Up, The Importance of Being Earnest, Singin’ In the Rain, Once Upon a Mattress, 42nd Street, My Fair Lady, The Taming of the Shew, Little Shop of Horrors, Our Town. Jansen has over 30 years of experience in community theater, with a little bit of film work mixed in.
Derek is happy to oversee all of the technical operations of both the Barlow Mainstage and the Leishman Performance Hall Productions. He’s an alumnus of the Weber State Theater program.
Arianne is thrilled to be back at CenterPoint Theater working with this incredibly dedicated team of humans! Arianne owns her own vocal studio and has taught both theory and private voice at WSU before nestling into her new favorite role as mama! She is grateful to her boys and husband for being so patient and supportive of her love for music and theater. Arianne’s past work here at CPT includes music directing Elf and 9 To 5.
Carynn loves her husband and her puppies. She likes most books and some movies. Her favorite food is delicious. When she’s not here at the theater, she is usually somewhere else.
Tammis Robbins Boam has worked for numerous theaters such as Utah Opera Company, Kingsbury Hall and many community theaters. CPT is truly her favorite place to work. Her designs were most recently seen on this stage in Broadway Villains in Concert, Camelot, Ragtime and A Tale of Two Cities. She wishes to thank Dale, the love of her life, and her four children for their continued love, support and patience.
This is his first season at Center- Point Legacy Theatre and he is excited to join the team. He has worked many different venues across Utah, from Old Lyric Repertory, Pioneer and the LDS Conference Center. Most recently he was the ATD at Tuacahn. He is also the proud father of 5 awesome kids and luckiest man to be married to his wife of 14 years Megan.
The Secret Garden marks Cynthia’s 44th production at CenterPoint. She has loved making every show come to life on the CPT stage. She also serves as the Scenic Charge Artist at Tuacahn Ampitheatre. You may have seen her work at this past year’s Prince of Egypt, Cinderella and Matilda.
She is grateful to her family for their undying support and love.
Silas loves being on stage and behind the scenes. He’s thrilled to be working with this insanely talented production team and cast.
